Sebastian Deterding (Hamburg University)
Sebastian Deterding is a researcher and designer usually flown in for some thorough German grumpiness. He publishes and speaks internationally on gameful design, persuasive technology, and the social contexts of games. His work has been covered by The Guardian, the LA Times, The New Scientist, and EDGE Magazine among others. When not designing, he pursues a PhD on the motivational psychology of ‘gamified’ applications at Hamburg University.

At the Games Life and Utopia conference, Sebastion Deterding will present 9.5 theses on the power and efficacy of gamification

 
Rilla Khaled (IT University of Copenhagen)
Rilla Khaled is an assistant professor at the IT University of Copenhagen. She has a PhD in Computer Science from the Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand. Her research areas include persuasive design, cross-cultural psychology, serious and persuasive game design, and design methods.

At the Games, Life and Utopia conference, she will be exploring participatory approaches to serious games and gamification.

 
Linda Breitlauch (Mediadesign University)
Linda Breitlauch is professor of game design at the Mediadesign University in Düsseldorf. She has a degree in film and television scriptwriting from the Film & Television Academy (HFF) in Babelsberg and completed a PhD project that explored dramatic composition in computer games. Her research interests include the areas of storytelling, serious games, and dramatic composition.

Marc Hassenzahl (Folkwang University)
Marc Hassenzahl is Professor at the Folkwang University in Essen and research manager at MediaCity, Åbo Akademi University, Vaasa, Finland. He is interested in the positive affective and motivational aspects of interactive technologies – in short: User Experience.

At At the Games, Life and Utopia conference, he will talk about transformational products and aesthetics of friction.

 
Timm Kekeritz (Raureif)
Timm Kekeritz is an interaction designer, software expert and simplicity enthusiast from Berlin. He is founder and managing director of the Design Consultancy Raureif. Timm studied Interface Design at the Fachhochschule Potsdam.

Timm Kekeritz will lead a break-out session during the conference in which he will talk about behavioural change through design and gamification.

 
Marek Plichta (Spaces of Play)
Marek Plichta is art director and designer at the game studio Spaces of Play where he co-designed the game »Spirits«. He holds a B.A. in Interface Design from the Fachhochschule Potsdam.
