Tim Edler studied computer science and architecture at the Technical University of Berlin. He graduated in 1994 as a diploma architect. From 1994 to 1997 he worked for different architect's offices.
In 2000 he and his brother Jan founded the Berlin-based architecture office realities:united, focussing on architectural solutions, which incorporate new media and information technologies. From 2001 to 2002 he taught as an advisor at the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation and in 2003 he and his brother Jan taught at the Pasadena Art Center College Los Angeles.
Since 2005 Tim Edler holds a visiting professorship at the Hochschule für Künste in Bremen.
